Darrahはステレオグラフ研究者として知られていた人物。1940年代中盤にこの特異なメディア形式の作品を多く発見。歴史や成り立ち研究を行い社会的な意味づけや作品の分類を行いました。本書に多くのステレオグラフ（立体写真）が収載されています。日本に一冊あるかないかというレベルの極めて稀な一冊。歴史的考察については以下MoMAサイトを参照下さい。https://www.moma.org/collection/terms/stereographSteteographs is the media that was boomed in mid 18950s. William C. Darrah, the author of this book, became fascinated on this media when he discovered in 1940s. Given the fact that there’s no standard biographical information contained at the title page, the book seems like his private work. Through hundreds of examples the author collected readers can discover historical, geographical and typical values of this media type as visual expressions.Very rare as already unable to find any libraries in Japan or even in the other nations.
